Sample Script:

Hello, my name is _____ and I am a (teacher/ student/ parent / etc.) I’d like to express my support and urge you to pass House Bill 6023, the “Multilingual Educator Investment Act,” and House Bill 5777, the “Support and Access to Bilingual Education Act.”

House Bill 6023 needs to pass in order to ensure that our schools are being staffed by the highly qualified, underemployed talent that exists in our state. Facing a historic teacher shortage, this is a long-term, sustainable solution to recognize talent in Rhode Island and remove financial barriers to that teachers can be in classrooms where they are needed and belong.

House Bill 5777 must pass in order to fulfill our promise of high-quality education to our students, by implementing and expanding bilingual/dual-language programs which have the highest rate of success for monolingual and multilingual students alike.

[Optional: Talk about how either or both of these bills would affect you or your loved ones.]

Once you’re done- call or text five friends and ask them to do the same. Together we can pass these bills!
